Course Objectives

This course introduces full custom integrated circuit design. Topics covered in lectures include: CMOS processes, mask layout methods and design, rules, MOS transistor modeling, circuit characterization and performance estimation, design of combinational and sequential circuits and logic families, interconnects, several subsystems including adder.

This course is intended to provide students an understanding of various contemporary techniques for the design and simulation of CMOS VLSI Digital circuits. After completing this course, each student should be able to design and simulate CMOS VLSI digital circuits

Lab

This is a project-oriented course in which you will design a CMOS integrated circuit. Tutorial for cad tools are provided.

Exams

There will be a mid-term and Final exam plus some quizes.

Assignments

Several Homework will be provided to student and a final project will be done in teams of 2. The project must be completed, and you must submit a final report in the format specified.

Prerequisites

Students are expected to know logic design, transistor-level circuit design (especially static CMOS), and device physics. Some background in computer architecture is helpful but not required.
