Dr. Hamidreza Amindavar:
Education:
-Ph.D. in electrical engineering, university of Washington,
1991,Thesis: Applications of Pade approximations in signal analysis.
-Master of science in applied mathematics, university of Washington,
1991
-Master of science in electrical engineering, university of
Washington, 1987, Thesis: Composite matched filter with error
correction.
-Bachelor of science in electrical engineering, university of
Washington, 1985 [top]
Professional Positions:
-Sharif university of technology as an assistant professor.
Duties include: Design and development of a digital image
processor for motion detection, and classification (1994--1996).
Fault-tolerant design analysis of intelligent electronic pig to be
used
for corrosion, and crack detection of gas and petroleum
pipelines (1994--1996).
-Amir kabir university of technology as an assistant professor.
Duties include: Teaching undergraduate/graduate courses and
supervising
students (1994--present). [top]
Research Activities:
-Head engineer for development of a digital image processing
simulator for
development on systolic array
processors. This simulator works on noisy images at binary level and
applies different methods such as adaptive Wiener,
adaptive contrast compression,
and ... to obtain an enhanced image. It uses SHARK
processor for simulation.
-Head engineer for development of a scene detection simulator.
This simulator works on aerial
images for detection of changes in the environment. It uses an
adaptive correlation
technique with some saving on the number of pixels required to
process.
-Head engineer for design and development of a phased array passive
beamformer for surveillence. [top]
Academic Activities:
-Teaching courses in analog and digital
communication series, mobile communications, digital signal and
image
processing, probability, stochastic processes,
advanced mathematics.
-Supervising (under)graduate students in the following areas:
Development of transmitter/receiver of 9600 baud modems.
Study of the available commercial mobile communication systems.
Digial communications, digital signal and image
processing, RADAR, SONAR,
mobile communications, artifical intelligence.
Analysis of microwave digital selective fading channels modelled
by three paths and the evaluation of error performance for different
modulations such as MPSK and MQAM with/without equalizer.
Passive beamforming with an random array geometry
in two or three dimensional space and narrowband or
wideband temporal signals, this work lead to a new optimum method.
Passive beamforming in the presence of array uncertainty,by first calibrating the array and estimating the shape with eigenvector
of the maximum eigenvalue of the hydrophones' cross-power spectral
matrix
and then the new beamforming method is applied. [top]
